Grant L. Marek is a former prosecutor at the District Attorney’s office. His work there gave him extensive courtroom experience, as well as an intimate knowledge of the criminal prosecution process. He has tried several dozen Jury and Bench trials, some weeks having a trial every single day. This trial experience is crucial in getting the best results for his clients.
Grant was born and raised in New Mexico. Growing up in Carlsbad, Mr. Marek studied the art of law from an early age, watching his father Thomas L. Marek practice law there for over 35 years. Tom graduated from the University Of New Mexico Law School in 1968. He practiced for a short time in Albuquerque before moving to Carlsbad to work for McCormick and Forbes. Tom started his own firm, which eventually became Marek and Francis. He passed away just a few months before Grant graduated from the UNM School of Law.
Grant studied criminal law extensively in school, a natural outgrowth of his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy. Grant has also studied Spanish since he was in 6th grade, traveling abroad several times to improve his fluency. Grant’s focus on criminal and personal injury law mirror his coursework at the university as well as his personal interests.
